Laura Ingalls Wilder's Dog Jack

Bulldog

In case you were wondering, Laura Ingalls didn't have an Australian Shepherd, as featured on the new tv series Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House on the Prairie. Indeed, Jack was a brindle bulldog. My guess is that he looked a little different than the bulldog pictured here (dog "conformation" tends to shift based on the whim of the breeders, etc.), but this should give you the general idea just exactly how different the actual dog Jack would have been from the new tv Jack.

Of course it doesn't really matter. I'm in love with the dog on the new show (probably a female, since network tv has always been uncomfortable with male dog ananomy... all uncomfirmed, of course, since I can't find any information on the actual dog), so the only reason I'm posting it is that it's fun to talk about.

Also, I like this picture and wanted to post it on my website as soon as I saw it.

At April 19, 2005 11:31 AM, Terry said I can't either. Which is one of the reasons I'm convinced that the breed has changed somewhat over the years based on AKC conformation standards that have more to do with cosmetics than dogness.     Add a Comment
