Sam Worlds Ugliest Dog
Ever since I saw the first news stories regarding Sam, the “World's Ugliest Dog,” I kept thinking that I would post pictures here. But then I discovered that I couldn't do it. (I've written about my reasons for not being able to do it here. update: Sam died last week. News Link. RIP, Sam. I will, however, post a link to my book. Not because people looking for photos of Sam will naturally love my book, but because, well, it's a good book, okay? And lots of people will like it, whether they look for pictures of Sam or not. Uh, but back to Sam... I simply cannot bear to look at this poor dog. I'm glad that Sam has a home, and a family that apparently loves him. I don't know how they do it. And I hope Sam lives the rest of his days in comfort. Sam is a Chinese Crested Hairless. But that does not tell his whole story by any stretch of the imagination. And I won't pretend to tell it to you here. Sam has his own website. If you really want to see photos of him, by all means, go look: Sam Worlds Ugliest Dog. I doubt Sam minds. Sam believes he is beautiful. I have no doubt his people tell him he is beautiful. I hope that they do. That's what I would tell Sam. “You're beautiful, Sam.” I'd say it with as much conviction as I could muster. Even if I had to close my eyes to do it. ♻ Sam ∴ Ugliest Dog
