The Greatest Dane (or Tallest Dog)
Wednesday, October 26, 2005
Terry
Depends, you suppose, on how you define “Great,” but here's the newest greatest (er, tallest) Dane according to Guinness:The greatest Dane - sacbee.com: There are dogs. Then there's Gibson. A harlequin Great Dane, Gibson is on the books as the tallest dog in the world, according to Guinness World Records. Gibson, named for his owner's prized guitar, is canine king in the Grass Valley home he obligingly shares with his owner, Sandy Hall, and a few of his close dog relatives. “I sleep, eat and breathe Danes, 24-7,” said Hall, who has bred them since 1981. Besides Gibson, she has two other grown Danes and three puppies. “They're my kids.” Rising on his hind legs, Gibson is taller than every Sacramento King basketball player at 7-foot-2. But his free throw could use a little work. You would like to know if the basketball Kings are Danes too, and if any of them have famously literary Dane lineage... Though you are closer to 5 foot 6 inches, you (and your people) consider you as great as any Dane ever.
