viviOh no.
CBS News | Search For Missing Show Dog Called Off | February 16, 2006 16:04:51: The 3-year-old whippet, formally known as Champion Bohem C'est La Vie and answering to Vivi, had won an award of merit in the annual Westminster Kennel Club show. The dog apparently escaped her travel cage on the tarmac Wednesday as she was about to be loaded onto a plane for the flight home to California.
Come back, Vivi, come back. Or stay warm until they can find you.

I read the comments of the breeder and owners but I think they should treat show dogs as individuals.
Dog people who really love their dogs will make the sacrifice of driving them to shows a long distance away.
Frontier Airlines is the only airline I know who has created a heated cubicle in cargo for three dogs and have someone with me all the time.
Cargo handlers care nothing for animals and sling their carriers around for the maximum discomfort of the animals. I have seen this from my airplane seat. They think it's funny.
Now back to the owners. Please evaluate your dogs. Your dogs are sensitive high strung dogs who are not just $$$ signs. Where is the justice for ViVi?

has experience contacting lost
pets. There are success stories
from information gotten from the
pet when he/she describes its
surroundings and distance traveled,
etc. Bebe Carnes is one
possibility and Shalini Bosbyshell.

At February 22, 2006 9:37 PM, Anonymous said Whoever has the strongest bond with her - either the owner or the handler- should put their clothes in a crate like the dog is used to being in, and leave other articles of clothing (socks work REALLY well) around where she was last seen. Whippet's a sighthound, but they still do some scent tracking; Vivi will be drawn to the familiar "safe" scent and crate, den up. If she doesn't stay, they can at least get hairs to prove she was there and give more hope.

At March 06, 2006 5:06 PM, Anonymous said To anonymous....all airlines that handle dogs have pressurized, temperature controlled cargo areas, what you claim is absurd. They will not allow dogs to fly above or below certain temperatures, not because of the plane, but because of the transfer on the tarmac creating exposure to uncontrollable temperatures. Whippet's are extremely sensitive, I know I have one. They are More sensitive than most dogs, mine knows I'm upset before I do...and is out of the room. No, dogs are not just dollar signs, but it is more than that, these people spend crazy amounts of money to get there...the winner's don't make that much. It's a weird business, but it has also done a lot to help dogs, save breeds, keep breeders more honest etc. Some dogs really do like it..just like some humans like different jobs. The sad part is this dog is most likely dead from hypothermia...mine sleeps under a down comforter year round, she's cold if it drops below 70. Whippets fur is so fine compared to other dogs. Hopefully the story will end like the cat that dissapeared out of her kennel only to turn up in the galley of a plane in Europe over three months later...     Add a Comment
