How to Photograph Your Pets

Friday, June 30, 2006  Terry

Here are ten fine tips on photographing your pets from Digital Photography School. My favorite from the list:

Dogtionary: Meaningful Portraits of Dogs
Sharon Montrose

How to Photograph Pets: Catch them unawares: Posed shots can be fun and effective but one thing I love to do (whether it be with animals or people) is to photograph them candidly paparazzi style.
I personally like to move the camera around, often blindly, sort of vaguely pointing it at the dog or cat or sidewalk or shrub. I fire away as they move around, from down low to up high to straight on. I get a lot of weird shots this way, but since it's digital I can delete whatever I please. What about you? Do you have any special advice for pet-photographers out there?
