Renee - Injured GSP
by Judithsviews.
Judithsviews's description at flickr (if there is one) » Renee and I got bad news from the vet. It turns out she has been shot through the shoulder. Her shoulder is basically shattered. My vet is sending the x-rays on to a specialty clinic to see what the options are - he outlined three possible procedures - fuse the joint, remove the ball of the shoulder bone - both of these would stop the pain, but she will never recover use of her shoulder. Otherwise she could have her leg amputated. Of course I would not want that if another option were possible. The cost is going to be really high - I have some things I can auction off which might help somewhat. We all agree that Renee is an exceptionally nice dog - worth helping. She came home with pain medication which seems to be helping her a bit. She is also supposed to be crated as much as possible - which she is able to tolerate - I'm letting her play in a pen that is about 20 x 20 for a couple of hours twice a day - she is a real love. Comes up and sticks her head into you for a pet.

Renee will stay in foster care until her shoulder situation is sorted out.
